OUR PASTOR
REV. EVERETT VANDER HORST
PASTOR
Pastor Everett joined the team at Meadowlands Fellowship CRC after pastoring in churches in Telkwa, British Columbia and Grand Rapids, Michigan. He serves our church in a variety of ways, including primary responsibility for preaching God's Word on Sundays, providing pastoral care, and participating in leadership tasks such as planning overall ministry strategy and direction setting. He enjoys helping people make the connection between the Word of God and their daily lives through the calling that we have received to love the Lord and love our neighbours both nearby and far away. When not busy pastoring and preaching, he enjoys playing board games and watching movies with his wife Christa and their three children Laura, Eric, and Jason. He can also be found making shavings at the lathe in his woodshop.
OUR LEADERSHIP
MARJA
PASTOR OF WORSHIP AND FAITH FORMATION
Marja’s work is a delightfully intermingled mix of worship planning, working with volunteers, connecting with youth, visioning with various groups, leading worship, organizing programs, and providing support and encouragement all along the way. Outside of work, Marja’s life is a delightfully intermingled mix of mothering Will, Fred, and Sophia and all the various friends that are always in the basement, running an active household, connecting with friends and family, partnering with husband Kevin, walking the dog with neighbours, reading too many books, gardening both flowers and veggies, cooking new recipes, playing those crazy board games, and relaxing in front of the tv with whatever movie we can all agree to watch. Marja is also trained as a life coach and in psychological first aid assessment. Marja struggles with depression, anxiety, and diabetes and is grateful for good support and systems in managing them. It’s part of the picture, but not the biggest part. Marja loves Jesus, and that is the biggest part.
SONYA
OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR
Sonya has been the Office Administrator at MFC since 2011. She loves to help out behind the scenes in the life of the church. She spends most days from Tuesday-Friday at her desk in the church office, answering questions, creating the Weekly Update, doing the church’s bookkeeping, and in general, taking care of many different administrative jobs in the church. When not at the church, Sonya spends time with her husband David and their four children Esther, Jacob, Maaike, and Leah and their beloved dog Ollie.
CARRIE
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Carrie is the administrative assistant who joined the MFC team in July 2023, her primary focus is the Weekly Updates, scheduling volunteers, and the Weekly Bulletins, as well as other various administrative duties. At home, Carrie is a busy mom to her four daughters, Sadie, Makaila, Addelyn and Delaney. In her free time, she loves to read, play board games with the family and go camping.
TRISHA
Trisha works hard to keep our church facilities looking clean and organized. She manages the rentals of our various rooms and is happy to help people navigate the MFCRC building. Outside of work, you will often find Trisha hanging out with her family, that is, her husband, Duane, and kids, Sarah, Ryan, Benjamin, and Nathan. Together they enjoy camping, hiking, playing games, and a competitive game of spike-ball! Trisha herself loves to read, cook, bake, and enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend. She also enjoys coaching volleyball for the Ancaster Lions Volleyball Club. Trisha enjoys her role at the church and the opportunities she gets to work with a great staff, congregation, and the wider community.
