Christians Against Poverty

Debt can happen to anyone, for a variety of reasons. Debt can cause people to feel stressed, suicidal, depressed and alone.  Christians Against Poverty, or “CAP”, is partnering with Meadowlands Fellowship to help families and individuals get back on their feet, and work their way out of debt. Our free, award winning debt counselling service works with each unique client to create a budget that prioritizes food and rent, negotiates with creditors and establishes a long-term repayment plan—so that people become completely debt free!

Clients are matched to a debt coach who visits with individuals in their homes, hearing their stories, and providing emotional support.  The church shares God’s love in a relevant way, offering hope, friendship and a helping hand.

CAP's client services from head office include budgeting and specialist advice, creditor negotiation and a full insolvency service.  To help our clients stick to their budgets we set up a debt management plan.  Clients then make weekly, biweekly or monthly payments into their plan to cover their debt repayments, which CAP then distributes to their creditors.

We also aim to prevent debt through our budgeting and money management course, CAP Money Course.
